Julian Cope - Fried (LP, vinyl rip). 1984.

One of the absolute psychedelic masterpieces of all times!
A few months only after the release of his first solo work ("World Shut Your Mouth", 1984), came this strange (what a cover!) psychedelic record with some acoustic space songs and some electric and semi-electric diamonds.
Musician, writer, historian, and cosmic shaman Julian Cope was born in October 1957 in Deri, South Glamorgan, Wales. He formed the Teardrop Explodes one of the more influential bands of the late '70's playing a volatile mix of neo-psychedelic rock and electro-pop.
By 1984, Cope's love of hallucinogenics -- as well as a toy car collection that occupied nearly an entire year of his life -- was at an all-time high. Despite his altered state, he released World Shut Your Mouth, his solo debut on Mercury Records.
Not to be deterred, Cope retreated to Cambridge and recorded the follow-up, Fried, a chilling chronicle of self-oblivion that included cover art of the artist in a sandbox wearing nothing but a gigantic turtle shell.

The spirit of Syd Barret is alive!

Human Puppets - T.V. Eye / Human Puppets (7" single, vinyl rip). 2010.

Human Puppets is a greek minimal synth / darkwave band from Athens. Active since 2004, they have 2 vinyl singles and 2 LP's untill now.
They remind me the best moments of the synth punk and minimal wave of the 80's and they are highly inspired by the greek scene of that era.
They started as a duo (Nikos K., Stathis L.) and a drum machine but they use a real drummer sometimes.
All of you out there who are in love with the new wave of the '80's will be impressed by this band.
This 7" single was released in 2010 in limited number of copies (300) in vinyl only by 5th-Floor_Entertainment label and it's their third release, after the single "Untittled" (2005) and the LP "The future from the past" (2006).
Their last release is the LP "Sounds of Solitude" (2011).

Take a look at band's site here
The songs are ripped from vinyl to mp3 (320)

Silent Moves - Silence is moving fast / All we see ( from "Sounds and noises of the SKG " compilation). 1984

Silent Moves was a greek new wave band from Thessaloniki.
Their only vinyl appearance was 2 songs for "The Sounds and Noises of the SKG compilation" in 1984. Their music could be described as dark synth pop.
Asklepios Zambetas - a very well known guitar player from Thessaloniki (see Trypes) was the singer.
Check this post for more informations about this great musician.
There is something very strange about these songs. You can hear them over and over again and finally find yourself trapped in their strange melodies and melancholic atmosphere. And then you want to play them again!
Unfortunately i don't have the vinyl record so i downloaded the compilation from the net in mp3 form. Enjoy two great songs from the heart of the '80's!

Rockin' Bones - Broke / Hard way to learn (7" single, vinyl rip). 2007

Rockin' Bones is a fantastic punk'n' roll band from Greece
Alive and kicking since 1992 they survived through hard times (their guitarist Konstantinos "Fuzzy" Papahronis died in a car accident in 2008).
Their music is inspired by all the good punk and rock'n' roll music, from Iggy Pop and The Ramones to The Rancid and Social Distortion and Motorhead.

This vinyl was released in 2007 and it contains two excellent punk songs. Get ready for mind blowing speedy rock!

The Durutti Column - Another setting (LP, vinyl rip). 1983.

Another record in Autumn mood.
The Durutti Column was primarily the vehicle of Vini Reilly, a guitarist born in Manchester, England, in 1953.
He started with the punk band The Nosebleeds (after Reilly left the band he was replaced by Billy Duffy - later in Theatre of Hate and The Cult - also Steven Morrisey, later singer of The Smiths joined The Nosebleeds around that time!).
In 1978 he joined Factory Records playing guitar and singing for The Durutti Column.   Band's name was inspired by the Spanish Civil War anarchist Buenaventura Durruti and a Situationists Internationale comic strip of the 1960s.
Gradually the band became the personal vehicle of Vini Reilly offering some of the pure masterpieces of the post punk era.

"Another setting" is band's third LP and one of the finest! Reilly's elegant guitar melodies mix with hypnotic vocals and dreamy sounds of the keyboards creating music that brings film images in mind.
A plus in this record is the amazing song "Smile in the crowd", known by the cover of Depeche Mode's Martin Gore in his "Counterfeit" EP (1989).

Eyeless in Gaza - Rust Red September (LP, vinyl rip). 1983.

The right record for the right time of the season! This is the fifth full vinyl album for this strange duet from England.

More calm comparing with their previous records, with a dreamy, airy pop feeling running through the album. Catchy melodies and complex rhythmes along with the melodic singing by Martyn Bates and dreamy soundscapes from the guitars and the keyboards create the perfect soundtrack for September.

See also this post for more informations about this excellent band and check the "Caught in Flux" record which is there for downloading.
"Rust Red September" is one of the top albums that this band ever created! Songs like "Only Whispers" or "Pearl and Pale" or "Changing Stations" will stay in your heart for ever!

"wearing your brand new shoes in
wanting to walk and run
in every solitary lane,
every road that leads you
wherever your feet may take you
that's where you will parade...

with nothing between you and your smile
nothing that anyone can pin you by,
knowing that whatever's coming
you're changing stations today"

Ian Mc Culloch - September song (7" single, vinyl rip). 1984.

September's here and the days are becoming shorter...
This is the first cloudy and rainy day here after almost two months of heatwave (above 40)!
Let's welcome this beautiful season with an excellent song written for the occasion!
This single is the very first release by Echo and the Bunnymen's singer Ian Mc Culloch. In 1984, right after their "Ocean Rain" LP, he released this cover to Kurt Weill's classic song "September song" (first public performance in the 1938 Broadway musical  Knickerbocker Holiday).
It has since been recorded by numerous singers (James Brown, Lou Reed, Bryan Ferry, Robert Wyatt are some of them).

The wonderfull classic Irish song "Molly Malone" or "Cockles and Mussels" is on the b-side. The song tells the fictional tale of a beautiful fishmonger who plied her trade on the streets of Dublin, but who died young, of a fever. She is typically represented as a hawker by day and part-time prostitute by night.
In contrast she has also been portrayed as one of the few chaste female street-hawkers of her day.
In 1988 the Dublin Millennium Commission endorsed claims concerning a Molly Malone who died on 13 June 1699, and proclaimed 13 June to be "Molly Malone day". The city of Dublin made a statue of Molly Malone in 1988.

Have a nice Autumn!

The Fall - Living too late (EP 12", vinyl rip). 1986.

Out of all the late-'70s punk and post-punk bands, none were longer lived or more prolific than The Fall
Throughout their career, the band underwent a myriad lineup changes, but at the center of it all was vocalist Mark E. Smith. With his snarling, nearly incomprehensible vocals and consuming bitter cynicism, Smith became a cult legend in indie and alternative rock.
Over the course of their career, The Fall went through a number of shifts in musical style, yet the foundation of their sound was a near-cacophonous, amelodic jagged jumble of guitars, sing-speak vocals, and keyboards (from Allmusic).
This EP was released in 7th of July 1986 by Beggar's Banquet label and it was recorded during the recordings for "Bend Sinister" LP.
The "Living too late" song was released in the cd version of  "Bend Sinister" later. All the three songs are high quality Fall-abilly with strong doses of psychedelia.
See also this post for the 1983 LP "Perverted by Language".

Tracklist
01. Living too late
02. Hot aftershave bop

03. Living too long

The songs were ripped from the vinyl record and since they are only three songs i decided to upload them in wav form. Much better quality of course.
