Fragmenta IV (va compilation, vinyl rip). 1992.

   This compilation was released with the issue #6 of the great greek fanzine "Stis Skies tou B-23" in spring of 1992.
  It contains some of the best greek rock groups of the 90s covering a wide range of styles. 
   We travel through the gothic rock of Illusion Fades, Three Miles Away and Outland to the dark electronic fields of Raw (Yannis Papaioannou and Makis Faros, the two main members of Rehearsed Dreams are here) and the record ends with four of the best hardcore punk bands of the greek scene in the 90's. 
   "Stis Skies tou B-23" was one of the best fanzines of the underground rock culture in Greece ever (alive from 1988 till 1996). Five of the issues contained vinyl records with underground greek bands.
   This is a part of the history of greek rock and some of the songs here are killers. My favorite bands are Black House's, Kinonika Apovlita (Social Waste), Illusion Fades (5 excellent gothic rock records by this band) and Raw, but all the songs are in a very good level.

Wipe Out! presents 12 raw greek groups (compilation, LP + single, vinyl rip). 1988.

   The legendary compilation of a legendary record label! 

   Wipe Out was one of the biggest independent record companies in '80's and '90's in Greece, as it released a lot of greek rock records (from punk and thrash tο electro and darkwave) by some of the greatest bands of that time.

   This compilation was released in 1988 and it contains 12 bands from all over greece (Lp plus a 7" single containing the last three bands). Psychedelic garage - punk is the predominant kind of music here - but not the only one!

   Some of the bands here are top class! Villa 21 (they play an excellent cover of Neil Young's classic "Hey Hey My My" which is ably mixed with Pink Floyd's psychedelic masterpiece "Set the controls for the heart of the sun"), Melting Ashes (fuzzy garage psych-punk), New Rose (with an almost Paisley Underground sound) and Flowers of Romance (their first appearance on vinyl with an unbelievable gothic punk elegy) are my favourites.

   Anyway the whole compilation is high quality hallucinating garage from the heart of the '80's!

The Crazed - Black Skies Roll (EP, vinyl rip). 2012.

  Dark, hellish, raw psychoblilly from Thessaloniki! The Crazed play since 2000 but they released their first LP "Moonlight's Out" in 2010. 

  This is their second vinyl - an Extended Play vinyl (limited copies) with five soul crashing doomed psychobilly anthems. They also play an excellent cover of "Thirteen" by Misfits.

  All of you who love ghoulish dark roots psychobilly should support the band buying the record. Check the label's site  here.

Villa 21 - House Of The Damned (EP 12", vinyl rip). 1988

   Villa 21 was one of the biggest greek rock bands ever! See this post for an introduction to this unforgettable band. 

   After the first years of the 80's, when the group was into the dark wave, they started changing their musical direction to a more rock sound influenced by Stooges, Rocky Erickson and garage punk.

   

 This EP was released in 1988, right after the moment of change, the legendary LP "Electric Poison".

   Four tracks full of energy! Among them an excellent cover to Rocky Ericson's classic "The night of the vampire". My personal favourite is the 8 minute long "Back for more", a link between the old direction and the new garage sound.

  

 This is vinyl rip containing the cover and all the artwork with lyrics. The lyrics were not included in the record but the band had made a mini booklet sharing it hand to hand for anyone interested.

Local Heroes II - A Hitch-Hyke compilation (2003)

 Hitch-Hyke is a greek independent record company founded in 1985, focused in indie rock. Some of the greatest greek rock bands have recorded for Hitch-Hyke (Last Drive, Deus Ex Machina, Bocomolech, Nightstalker, make Believe).

This compilation came out at 2003, together with "Pop+Rock" magazine.

Some great bands and great songs are included here.

The music varies from Punk (Deus Ex machina), Garage (Last Drive), Stoner rock (Nightstalker), indie rock (Make Believe, Bocomolech, This Fluid)....
