The Durutti Column - Another setting (LP, vinyl rip). 1983.

Another record in Autumn mood.
The Durutti Column was primarily the vehicle of Vini Reilly, a guitarist born in Manchester, England, in 1953.
He started with the punk band The Nosebleeds (after Reilly left the band he was replaced by Billy Duffy - later in Theatre of Hate and The Cult - also Steven Morrisey, later singer of The Smiths joined The Nosebleeds around that time!).
In 1978 he joined Factory Records playing guitar and singing for The Durutti Column.   Band's name was inspired by the Spanish Civil War anarchist Buenaventura Durruti and a Situationists Internationale comic strip of the 1960s.
Gradually the band became the personal vehicle of Vini Reilly offering some of the pure masterpieces of the post punk era.

"Another setting" is band's third LP and one of the finest! Reilly's elegant guitar melodies mix with hypnotic vocals and dreamy sounds of the keyboards creating music that brings film images in mind.
A plus in this record is the amazing song "Smile in the crowd", known by the cover of Depeche Mode's Martin Gore in his "Counterfeit" EP (1989).

  1. Mediafire blocked the "Audacity of Hype" LP by Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine due to complaints by Alternative Tentacles record company. So i decided to delete the whole post.

  2. Agreed this is an album of great beauty. Everyone should buy it and put something into Vini's pension fund.
